RESULTS & REVIEW of the OCTOBER MID WALES HDT EVENT

Posted by Ann Ham on October 27, 2014 at 1:55 PM

There were 15 entries forward on the day and thanks to helpful members setting up dressage, cones and obstacle equipment the event ran to time and there were no hicups. The affiliated classes were very well supported with 4 in Open Horse, 3 in Open Pony and 3 in Novice Pony. Averrina Snow drove her lovely grey pony pair in the multiples class and Michelle Peters her Friesian in Novice Horse. There were 3 juniors taking part who all drove exceptionally well and two small ponies under 10 hands ..a real contrast to the horses standing at 16 - 17 hands and towerng above them!

The cones course drove well with two people making the optimum time and a number of clear rounds. There were some very speedy obstacle rounds although in the excitement tiny miscalculations resulted in extra penalties for a few . The juniors really impressed and are established at the top of the leaderboard - Emily Curnock winning the Novice Pony from Melita Powell, and younger junior Jack Kedward driving superbly to take the Club Class with home bred and produced Gurnos Replica who he has been very successful with under saddle as well as in driving events this year. Mum Vicky Kedward brought out another Gurnos Pony on its first driven HDT and won the best novice dressage by one point from junior Emily Curnock, Open Horse was won by Jonathan Rees ahead of Peter Sidebottom with Open Horse driver Vicky Irwin taking the Best Open Dressage. Best score of the day was Emily Ham with her versatile driving pony ,Section C  Crossfield Glory ( Mr J)  who also won the Wales and Gloucester Open Pony class with the best score of the day the previous weekend.

Fancy Dress was won decisively by Halloween Horrors Janice and Peter Sidebottom  - do look at the photos in the photo gallery  ...if you dare !!!

The club would like to thank all who helped and the spectators who came to cheer members on. It was lovely to welcome new faces as competitors too and we are all  eagerly looking forward to the next event at LLwynon on November 16th with BD Dressage judge Sandra Fisher assessing paces and precision for the driven dressage. We are extremely grateful to Lynn and Graham at Llwynon Saddlery for the use of their excellent venue and warm hospitality.
