AGM : The Club Year in Review July 2013 - 2014

Posted by Ann Ham on July 19, 2014 at 2:30 AM

Over the year since the last AGM , PCDG has held 22 driving events.

The club has 63 members, from Powys, Monmouthshire , the Valleys , Carmarthenshire , Pembrokeshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol. Most of these are drivers, 8 members are disabled and 17 are young drivers

In July 2013 after the AGM we held our first camp with James Broome. This was a two day camp attended by 11 drivers.

By popular demand in 2014 it was extended to 3 days and included an evening ODE. 13 turnouts attended with additional drivers extra.

The club is proud to have supported LATCH – Welsh children’s cancer charity in raising over £3000 by putting on a fun day in Brecon including two parades in fancy dress through the town and cones driving , car boot, raffle and stands – bouncy castle, fun games etc

We have been awarded the Blue ribbon award by Sports Disability Wales for demonstrating excellent inclusion for those with disabilities

We received two Community Chest Grants last year and have just been awarded another. Each is worth £1500. Last year’s grants funded First Aid, Child Protection and a UKCC level 1 course and equipment. The new grant covers the costs of the new portable obstacles and equipment to set up ODE events and Scurry & Trials events across the region as all the equipment will fit into my pick up.

We ran main ring sports driving demonstrations at three shows : Brecon County, Llangynidr and Sennybridge and wowed the crowds.

The affiliated indoor series at Llwynon was extremely well attended with 12 or more turnouts at each event. Our drivers at the indoor championships all finished in the top ten of their classes, with some high individual placings.

For the first time we ran a winter indoor series at Usk for members on the eastern side of Wales and this was very popular. With the new equipment we will run a series again but instead of just an arena challenge format we can hold unaffiliated one day events there as well which will have their own full set of awards next AGM. The new events – one a month - are on the website.

Fancy dress evens have been fun and the Christmas social at The George in Brecon was well attended

The club is continuing to develop and grow.
