The Scurry and Trials World Championships are being held on Sept 13th and 14th 2014 at Sandringham Game Fair , Norfolk.
They are run by British Scurry & Trials Driving. For details please see their website http://www.scurryandtrials.co.uk/ . There are set criteria for the composition of a team and the number of individuals who can represent each nation at the World Championships.
In addition to meeting the criteria set by British Scurry and Trials the following are criteria for selection to the Welsh Team :
• All those wishing to represent Wales must take part in at least one Scurry and Trials event in 2014.
• They must become paid up members of British Scurry & Trials.
• The British Scurry & Trials competition at Bridgend county Show on July 12th & 13th is a selection event and all those seriously intending to represent Wales should take part on both days.
• Those wishing to represent Wales should take part in the Scurry & Trials training organised by PCDG. This will include team training on 14th, 15th and 16th July at Cricklands with James Broome.
• Competitors are expected to be self financing although raffles and sponsorship may be agreed to assist financing the Wales contingent.
• Those hoping to represent Wales must be available to travel to Sandringham for the World championships arriving no later than noon on Friday 12th Sept and must be able to take place in the competition over both days of 13th and 14th September 2014.
• Upholding the ethos of the Welsh Team is a very important aspect of the selection process- good sportsmanship and a friendly helpful attitude is essential for all those taking part in the training and events. While being proud to represent Wales we are foremost ambassadors for driving as a friendly inclusive sport.
• Competitors are expected to practise to improve their personal performance
• Competitors should present their turnouts to a high standard and in accordance with the Chef D’Equipe’s Specifications. This may mean purchasing certain items such as Welsh Team jackets.
• Safety and the welfare of the horse are paramount. The group as a whole is expected to work together to ensure this but the Chef D’Equipe’s or event organiser’s decision on these matters is final.
