The Event on October 28th was a great success with 11 drivers and 2 long reining competitors. Nearly everyone , including our BD Dressage judge Sandra Fisher , dressed up in the most amazing Halloween themed costumes and ponies and carriages were also magnificent ! Big Penguin made special luminous rosettes , kindly sponsored by Janice and Peter Sidebottom . The new obstacles, which were also spookily decorated, were much admired and drove really well , being substantial they do not fall over when knocked though of course the penalty balls come tumbling down ! Loud Halloween tunes throughout the event added to the atmosphere . Photos are available on the group’s facebook page and will soon be up in a photo album, on this website.

Hot competition in the Open Horse and the junior classes kept everyone in suspense until the final obstacle was driven ! Jonathan Rees stormed through the obstacles in two of the quickest times of the day to beat Gwyn into second place ahead of Peter .Rhianna Phillips took an early lead by winning the junior dressage but all the juniors accrued hefty penalties in the cones , then Jack Kedward stormed through to the lead after a particularly well driven obstacle round , while Emily Phillips sadly lost a place due to her corrected error of course in the last obstacle. Emily Ham in Open Pony had consistently good scores throughout, with the best dressage and cones of the day and two of the fastest obstacles .finishing on a score of 125 overall. Janice in a class of her own in Novice Horse also drove effectively in all three phases . Janice and Peter also won the best fancy dress! Newcomer Chris Bambridge impressed at his first driven event taking over Emily’s Jack and showing particular speed and accuracy in the obstacles , He also bravely backstepped Jonathan for his flying obstacles round ! Vicky Kedward bringing out her Section C pony Grant on his first experience of trials put in a good performance with the pony who took it all in his stride!

Two longreiners enjoyed the cones and obstacles with Holly Williams with RDA pony Tinker edging ahead of Lauren’s pony Digit which she is currently breaking to drive and was at his first outing .

Entries are looking good for the November event on 25t and for the Christmas fancy dress on December 15th!
