Glorious sunshine for our March training day ...held at Llwynon saddlery and run by Emily .. The Championship dressage tests for the Indoor Finals took up the first block of training as those going to travel all the way to Keysoe for the Indoor Finals at the end of the month want to get good results in this important phase . After this safety asessments were carried out and Club members had dressage training for the last event of the season ...to see if they could get their best ever dressage scores!
New members John and Patricia were able to have a harness fitting session , with Emily bringing several harnesses and bits for them to try with Troy , newly broken to drive . Choices made they put to and drove cones with Troy going very happily . Everyone was then able to practise driving the cones course and finally our two new Young members Rhianna 15 and Jen Phillips, 18 had their initial training in backstepping , taking turns on Emily's four wheeler .Both girls were able to take up the reins and drive Emily's pony Jack at a steady walking pace in the cleared arena and get their first feel of this new skill. Now bitten by the driving bug ..they hope to go to the British Young Drivers Camp over the Easter holidays where they will be immersed in the full driving experience for three days and can take their driving assessments .
THe event had a lovely relaxed atmosdphere in spite of so much being achieved . Thanks to Emily for a full day's training and to Lynn and Graham Butt for their hospitality and the use of this excellent venue.
