IHDT February Event report!

Posted by Ann Ham on February 26, 2012 at 12:15 AM

The latest indoor event on February 19th at Llwynon Saddlery was well supported , although a few regular competitors were unable to drive on this occasion. The club welcomed two new turnouts each with ponies recently broken to harness. These enjoyed the opportunity of competing in the combined dressage and cones phases . congratulations to John Hunt with Troy and Rhian Ralph driving Anthea Birch’s Section B pony Bertie. Both ponies were quietly introduced to competition and behaved impeccably.

Jonathan Rees in Open Horse drove his usual fast and impressive obstacles to finish on the best score of the day with 161 points ,Peter Sidebottom winner of Novice Horse not too far behind on 197 after a tight tussle with Sue Johnson who led by a narrow margin after the dressage and cones. Sue was thrilled to drive her best test yet , attributing Toby’s improved impulsion to recent training with accomplished driver and UK CC coach James Broome. In the Club Class Pat Dutson , this time driving her Welsh cob mare Ceri to a four wheeler had a convincing win over rival Vicky Kedward who was bringing out a youngster . The Newcomers competition was hotly contested – Leana Stansfield started in excellent form – having the best dressage of the day and then the best cones round . Sadly she forgot her route in Obstacle 2 opening the door for her rivals Liz James who took the class , and Janice Sidebottom who was second meaning Leana had to settle for third place on this occasion.

The rosettes made by local Big Penguin Designs were kindly sponsored by Andrew Thomas , the proud dad of 9 year old star Rachel Thomas , for Team Ted. The Best Dressage rosettes are sponsored by club enthusiast Liz Powell.
